What is there to drink?!

Okay,

So you have booked your venue, caterer, photographer and everything wedding...now you have to find out who your bartender is and what you want to serve. Do you use the caterers bar tending service? Do you ask a friend?

When I go to a wedding, after the ceremony I find people are searching for the bar...where are the drinks...what is there to drink??? It really is one of the most important selections you can make for your wedding reception. By all means, I am not a wedding expert (yet!) but, I have been to tons of weddings, and hosted 4 at the Plantation so far! In the 3 out of 4 the Plantation has hosted (and several more in the future) brides have chosen the same bartender, Bartenders4You. Not only is Bartenders4You one of the most popular bar services in San Antonio, they are at the top of my list too! For one, Jennifer (the owner) is the most genuine person you will ever meet! Her willingness to tailor each drink menu for each wedding is really what sets them apart from the rest. Did I mention they have the BEST margaritas in town...seriously...when you order her margaritas you get all these extra flavors to add to your drink, the bartender will make it how you like it. For the record, the Pumpkin flavor is amazing! Future Kendall brides are so happy when they tell me what their signature drinks are, and what they are serving at their wedding. And they are always surprised when they find out a full bar is cheaper to do than beer and wine...can you believe that?! Who knew you could have a full bar cheaper than beer and wine?! Not only will Jennifer customize your drink menu, the girl will go shopping for you and take all the stress out of it!! So, when you are out there trying to find a bartender, search no more and go directly to Bartenders4You! They always deliver more than what you ask for with a professional and caring attitude. Cheers! -Kendall Plantation

Another Haute Wedding!

Saturday we celebrated a very specail wedding, not only for the couple but for the Plantation! It was our first wedding inside the building and we could not have been more pleased! Haute Weddings was chosen by the bride and groom to coordinate their entire wedding. The room was filled with interchaning jewel toned uplighting  from Illuminating Celebrations, and turquoise shimmering linens from Events By Reese. Devinnies Paradise added charm and elegance to each table with floral arrangments and candles, and Infinity Catering filled hungry tummies with delicious food!  The Plantation was filled over 300 friends and family to celebrate the marriage of Marcos and Kimberly Sosa! Guests arrived for cocktail hour on the wrap around porches awaiting the bride and groom to make their grand entrance down the stairs in the ballroom. We are excited to host weddings at the Plantation to see dreams come true! This weekend was truely special for everyone and we can not wait to host your wedding at the Plantation for more memories and history in the making! Thank you Lisa Morales of Haute Weddings for making the first wedding amazing and your vendors for taking care of our venue as if it were their own. We look forward to many more weddings with you and your team!
Cheers!

Grand Opening was Grand!

First, thank you for following our blog, we are excited to share information with you and glad you are interested in happenings at Kendall Plantation!

Our much anticipated open house/grand opening last night was a huge success! We had close to 500 people walk through our doors! Lisa Morales with Haute weddings hosted the event with some of her preferred vendors and did an outstanding job! Vendors included some the industries best and they were more than helpful to make this event amazing! I enjoyed visiting with all the current brides and prospective brides last night with their families and friends! Although the Plantation was not 100%, we were comfortable opening the doors for all to see the progress! Finishing touches are all that is left, and I am more than satisfied with the outcome of the construction. As you know, we had some unforeseen situations that held us up early on, but we worked through it and now are very excited to host the first wedding in the building this Saturday! I have to lift up all the brides that booked with Kendall Plantation early on when there was nothing but a section of land with cedar trees and an bone dry pond!  Those who shared the same vision we did with a simple set of plans and some rough sketches were given the big reveal last night and were more than pleased! I was overjoyed with the reactions of all the visitors and it makes me so happy to see brides get chills when they see themselves in their white gown walking down the aisle at Kendall Plantation. Dreams really will come true at the Plantation, there is nothing like it in the area. First class, and pure elegance warmed the room last night with the chandeliers, grand staircase and the views from the porches...wow!!!!

So, again we thank you for coming out last night to help us celebrate the grand opening of Kendall Plantation. Thank you for helping us make history, and thank you for letting Kendall Plantation have a part in your very special day! Cheers! ~Kendall Plantation

Framing Day 1 & 2

Good Morning!

The Plantation is taking shape and it looks amazing! They have completed the bottom floor framing. They have the windows and doors cut out too! There are no stairs leading to the 2nd floor yet, so I have not been able to walk around up there (to high for me!) But the contractor took me up in the lift to get a couple of pictures before I decided I was too scared to be that high up!!!! Either way the view upstairs is amazing and when they get the stairs in and I am on solid ground I will tour the area and take a lot more pictures :) The pictures are from the first day and second day of framing. They started framing the columns yesterday and will move upstairs tomorrow. Now that the walls are up in the ballroom, I really get a feel for the size and shape. The porches are huge and a perfect romantic set up for outside tables. If I was a wedding guest at the Plantation, I would want to be upstairs or on the porches, it is really relaxing! Enjoy the pictures, I will take more as things change!

Cheers,

2nd Floor Pour

Happy Tuesday!

No time was wasted this morning pouring the second story of the Plantation! Concrete trucks rolled in about 5:30am ready to pour. I thought 300 yards of concrete for the slab was incredible and nothing could top the amount of work and concrete we used to get it done. WRONG! Pouring concrete on a 2nd floor was a site to see! I visited this morning to watch and was completely blown away by the skill involved to do this. As I toured the 2nd floor on a scissor lift 30 something feet in the air, it was like a dream come true. The view from the 2nd floor is like nothing I have ever seen. The Plantation is truly set apart from other venues, and I can not wait for all of you to see what I have seen! Once the concrete is set (around 4:00pm) I will take photos of this amazing view! The back porch and wall will be framed in by this afternoon, the kitchen and guest restrooms are framed and ready for siding!

Cheers!

Steel Day 1 & 2

Good Morning!

We are at Day 3 of steel erection and it is looking great! They are moving fast getting all the beams and joists in place! The Plantation is really starting to take shape now. The pictures are from Day 1 and Day 2. Day 1: Started out sunny and hot ended with wet and muggy. These guys worked right through the rain and toughed it out. They put in place all the columns, these will be wrapped up in white to look like a Plantation!
Day 2: They added joists to secure these columns in place. Some represent the second floor and are starting to frame out each room. At first when we had a grey slab with nothing on it, I thought it looked small, but now with all this steel and structure it is really taking shape and I realized just how big 9000 square feet (with out second floor) really is!!!! More pictures to come in the morning! Have a fabulous Thursday!

Cheers,

Kristin

Steel Galore!

So, the steel arrived, and the workers wasted no time getting the structural columns up! They are high in the sky and easy to see from the highway now! They look amazing! I will be posting pictures later this evening when the workers leave and I can adore the columns in all their glory! Hope you all will come out soon and drive by to see them, before you know it there will be actual walls! :)

I look forward to the open house in September! I hope you will be there!

Cheers,

Kristin

We have concrete!!!

Good Tuesday Morning!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! As most of my faithful followers already know, we have a slab!!! I hope you got a chance to come by and see it in all it's glory! It was a long process but they got it done! We started at 2:00 am Friday morning! I was there to witness all the fun and it was amazing to see it all happen. Everything went smooth and perfect as they poured 350 yards of concrete into the ground!

Things are still moving along nicely and you can expect to see red iron going up soon, they will start with the exterior beams (22) and then they will work their way up to the 2nd floor and roof. The 2nd floor pour is scheduled in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to see that!

Come out and take a peek this weekend and get a feel for the layout of the building. I can not wait to have our first wedding out on the wrap around porches. The views are incredible, and will make beautiful pictures.

Cheers,
Kendall Plantation

Wedding Fair!

Thank you to all who came out to see our booth and registered for prizes! Lisa Patterson and Jennifer Wooten took home $25 and $100 gift cards from Kendall Plantation! Congrats girls!

The wedding fair was a great success and we were excited to introduce Kendall Plantation to hundreds of possible KP brides! Jeremy and I get to see all the vendors "behind the scenes" building their booths and getting ready for brides to visit them. We did a lot of networking before and after the show to get our name out there and build relationships with vendors that we like! As you know we do not have any exclusive relationships with any vendors, so you can tailor your wedding to how YOU want it! The purpose of meeting other vendors is to protect my brides and make sure they are who they say they are! I was especially impressed with HEB Blooms...their arrangements are stunning! I was also impressed with Heavenly Gourmet who was very professional and kind. Some times these wedding fairs can feel a bit overwhelming when they are all bombarding you handing you literature left and right, but they are informational. I tell my brides to do some research before they go and make a list of who they want to visit that way you have a clear goal in mind and don't make unnecessary stops!

Did any of you get to see the photo booths? I am really excited about those, what a great way to keep guest entertained at a wedding, and a great way for 'real life' photos! I will have a construction update this afternoon, with more pictures. I am excited the way things are going and can't wait for that slab! Keep in touch, Cheers!

The Great Wall!

Hello again!

So, the retaining wall is HUGE! I get chills when I stand on top of it and see the view. It is so incredible and really does justice to the true Hill Country. Plumbing rough is on its way, and beams will be in this week to lay down and get drilled into the ground. They rolled and packed base material all day yesterday getting the ground ready for the slab! As you know, this is the longest part of the construction process, after this is done, the framers are here 7 days a week working hard to get the building UP! Once the frame is up, all sub contractors will be working together in the building to get everything done at one time. We got great feed back from an aqua-scape's company to re-do the existing pond and add a fountain. It is going to be stunning! I have another appointment with the landscape architect this afternoon to go over some of the details and make sure what we want will be here! Keep in touch, I will post more pictures tomorrow! Cheers, Kristin

Retaining Wall

Today has been a great construction day! Things got started very early around 6:30 am. The concrete guys are moving quickly! I checked on the progress around 2:00. I will be out there again around 5:30 to meet the aqua-scape's company to design the pond. I will take more pictures then so there won't be any workers out there and I can get up close and personal :) Before you know it there will be a building....I know my September and October brides are laughing right now, but I promise....it will be done!!!!! Good thing is, it doesn't seem like we have rain coming any time soon, and the contractors are working 6 days a week! Check back soon. Cheers!

Construction Update!

Hello fellow followers! For all my brides and grooms who have been out to see the progress of the Plantation, you have seen that the site work is complete at this point, meaning all the clearing, parking and slab preparations are complete. The concrete contractors are on the move now! They are smoothing out all the bumps and grooves getting ready for the plumbing rough! Tomorrow I will be working with the electric company getting all the finals put together so we can power this baby up! All the lighting selections have been made and ordered! Flooring decisions will be made by weeks end. We know we are going with wood floors...not sure what color or size yet...but I will definitely share this exciting news when we know! Kendall Plantation is new to the 'blogging' thing, so work with us as we launch this site! We will post new pictures and updates often!

About Me

My photo
Boerne, Texas, United States
Kendall Plantation is an elegant wedding venue located in between Boerne and San Antonio. Slated for completion this September we are excited to host weddings and other events! Kendall Plantation will be completed with floor to ceiling windows with monumental French doors on all sides of the building. The open feeling through the ballroom will create an elegant romantic feel for any event. Wood floors will complement the beautiful cascading chandeliers and wall sconces carefully chosen to warm the room with elegance and charm. The 13 foot wrap around porches allow for a lovely cocktail hour or some Hill Country R&R. Kendall Plantation stays true to Southern Plantation homes with its black shutters, wrap around porches, a lighted copula on top, and giant white columns all the way around. Surrounding views include century old oak trees, rolling hill tops and magnificent sunsets behind the hill.
